FAQs

What are letterpress invitations?

Letterpress invitations are an elegant and luxurious form of wedding invitation printing. Unlike traditional flat printing, letterpress is a raised relief printing process that dates back to the 15th century, using hand-crafted plates and copper presses to create unique and detailed designs with a deep imprint.

At Print Peppermint, we use modern techniques and traditional craftsmanship to provide beautiful, custom letterpress wedding invitation designs on high quality paper stock.

What types of materials can be used for letterpress invitations?

We offer a variety of paper stocks in different colors and weights that suit any style depending on your needs. Our standard paper stock options include cotton, linen, bamboo, and jute cardstock ranging from 120gsm - 350gsm.

We also have several specialty papers such as textured Kraft, shimmery foil-ed metallic sheets, as well as wood veneers for unique textures and finishes.

What is the difference between letterpress vs engraving?

Engraving uses an etching tool to create an impression in metal or wood plates which can be used for printing on paper. The results of engraving will have a subtle texture due to the raised ridges left behind from the etching process.

On the other hand, letters pressed by a traditional copper press are pushed into the paper stock leaving behind a raised impression which creates a more tactile experience than engraving.

What is the difference between letterpress vs digital printing?

Digital printing utilizes computer technology to print directly onto paper while letterpress requires plates carved with artwork which are then pressed into paper with a copper plate creating an indented imprint on the page.

Digital prints tend to be less expensive than those produced through letterpress but lack in quality compared to their traditional counterpart due to lack of texture or raised impression in comparison with its printed counterpart.

What is the difference between letterpress vs flat printing?

Flat printing refers generally to offset lithography or digital prints which do not require any plates or special equipment like copper plate presses unlike those required for letterpressing.
This method is often cheaper than other types of printing methods but lacks character compared to those achieved through traditional methods such as embossing and debossing techniques used in letter press invitations.

How much does it cost for custom letterpress invitations?

The cost of custom letterpress invitations depends largely on factors such as quantity ordered, complexity of design, desired finishings (foil stamping/ edge painting) etc., however you can usually expect it to range anywhere from $1 - $10 per invitation suite (which would include multiple pieces such as envelopes).

If you’re looking for something more affordable yet still impressive we can provide you with semi-custom templates at lower prices starting at around $0.50 per piece when ordering in bulk quantities depending on size & design complexity chosen by client.

Is there anything else I should know about Letterpress Wedding Invitations?

Absolutely! We highly recommend having extra cards printed just in case there are last minute adjustments needed or unforeseen issues arise during delivery so that your guests receive their invitations without delay amongst other things – plus they make great keep sakes!

Additionally if you were wanting something totally unique then why not add some extra finishing touches such as edge foiling or spot UV coating – these services will add an extra layer of sophistication whilst still staying within budget!
