What is: Letterpress printing ?

It makes use of designs that are engraved or cast in relief on different surfaces that are capable of handling surfaces like metal or wood. It is the opposite of intaglio printing. For letter pressing, the ink is on the printing surface that is raised. The non-printing sides are then recessed. Impressions can be made in different ways such as on the platen press, here the impression is made by the pressure applied to the flat area. To create an impression on the flatbed cylinder, the pressure of the cylinder rolls across a flat area or a type of plate. AKA typographic printing.
